Kaljakellunta 2020 Update
There have been many queries on social media, whether there will be a Kaljakellunta organised this year due to the active COVID-19 pandemic. Kaljakellunta doesn’t have any official organisers, so the tradition cannot be cancelled in that sense if people decide to turn up to float and drink beer.
There have been some discussions on the Kaljakellunta Forum that the date for this years event would be 01.08.2020. However, nobody has created a Facebook event for the festival so far.
Is beer floating a safe activity to do during the pandemic? At this moment it looks like most summer festivals have been cancelled in Finland. Kaljakellunta.org does not give any official recommendations whether it is advisable to go float this year or not. We recommend following the advice of Finnish authorities about general gatherings when the time comes.
